For months now we have been seeing photoshopped pictures of BMW’s brand new bread-and-butter coupe, the 4-Series. Previously dubbed the 3-Series Coupe, BMW opted to introduce the new iteration under an entirely new name, dropping the latter part of the moniker, as the 4-Series will only be produced in coupe form and needs no distinction.
While the official images that were released by BMW were pleasing in more ways than one – clearly displaying the brand’s signature lines, curves, and new design language – a new treat has sprouted online in the form of photos of an actual US-spec production version in the wild.
Boasting the brand’s venerable M Sports package, the most expensive version of the coupe, the 435i, seems perfectly fitting on the road. As the reincarnated 3-Series Coupe, the car looks right at home, while still exuding a breath of fresh air with its crisp and clean lines. Added to its already exaggerated lines are the M Sports package’s revised front and rear aprons, large alloys and various interior modifications.
For BMW purists, the 4-Series moniker may seem odd at first, but one look at the beast and all doubt will soon disappear.
Prediction: With its distinct ability to mix evolutionary design yet still look as fresh as ever, the BMW 4-Series will become as iconic, if not more, than the legendary 3-Series Coupe. Though time will be the only one who will be able to tell, this is one bet we’d happily make without hesitation.
