Shop Talk · Corvette C8 · Avant Garde

The C8 Stingray is the best-looking Corvette in decades, and the factory wheels are the first thing most owners want to change. Avant Garde's M520R and M580R are the two wheels we put on more C8s than anything else.

We're one of the largest Avant Garde distributors in the country, and we've shipped hundreds of M520R and M580R sets to C8 owners nationwide, some as wheels only and many as mounted, ready-to-bolt-on wheel and tire packages. This guide covers everything we get asked at the counter: how the two designs differ, which size to pick, Gloss Black vs Dark Graphite Metallic, and the tires that fit.

Our honest take: the M520R is our best seller on the C8 by a wide margin. Its mesh pattern echoes the Stingray's angular body lines and vents. If you'd rather the wheel stay in the background and let the car do the talking, the M580R's open five-spoke shows off the calipers and keeps a cleaner, near-factory look.

19/20 or 20/21: picking your size

Both designs come in two staggered setups for the C8 Stingray and Z51. Each set is hub-centric with offsets made for the C8, so it bolts on with no spacers and clears the factory and Z51 brakes. Tap a photo to see that car.

The one most of our C8 customers choose. A wider rear tire and a bigger wheel fill the arches and give the car a lower, more planted stance, without changing the gearing or speedometer in any way you'll notice.

Gloss Black or Dark Graphite Metallic?

BoldGloss Black

Deep and glossy, with high contrast on light colors like Arctic White, Silver Flare and Torch Red. Pairs perfectly with the black roof panel, mirrors and carbon trim.

SubtleDark Graphite Metallic

A dark gunmetal with a fine metallic flake that shows off the spoke detail in sunlight. Great on gray, blue and black cars, and it hides brake dust better than gloss black.

Both are the standard finishes and usually ship from stock. Want something different? Custom finishes are available for an extra fee and a longer build time, so ask us for options.

Which tires should you run?

On the 19/20 setup you can keep your factory 245/35R19 and 305/30R20 tires. For the 20/21 setup, we mount 255/30R20 up front and 325/25R21 in the rear.

Our first pickMichelin Pilot Sport 4S

The benchmark for a street C8: sharp, predictable grip, excellent in the wet and long-lasting for a summer tire.

Close secondPirelli P Zero

A sharp, sporty feel many Corvette owners already know, available in both 20/21 sizes.

Cold mornings?Ask about all-season

Summer tires get hard below about 45°F. If your C8 sees winter, we'll match an all-season to your size.

FAQ

Will Avant Garde M520R and M580R fit my C8 Z51?

Yes. Both the 19/20 and 20/21 sets fit 2020 and newer C8 Stingray coupes and convertibles, with or without the Z51 package, and clear the Z51 brakes.

Do they fit the C8 Z06, E-Ray or ZR1?

No. Those cars use the wider widebody body and need wider wheels. See our Corvette wheel guide for widebody options, or contact us.

Can I reuse my factory tires?

Yes, on the 19/20 setup (19x8.5 front, 20x11 rear). It matches the factory sizes, so your 245/35R19 and 305/30R20 tires move straight over. The 20/21 setup needs 255/30R20 and 325/25R21 tires.

Do I need spacers or hub rings?

No. Both sets are hub-centric and offset for the C8, so they bolt straight on.

Can I reuse my factory TPMS sensors?

Yes. The wheels accept the factory C8 TPMS sensors.

What does flow forged mean?

The barrel is spun and stretched under heat and pressure, which makes it thinner, lighter and stronger than a standard cast wheel, for much less than a fully forged wheel.

How fast do they ship?

Gloss Black and Dark Graphite Metallic sets in both sizes usually ship from stock. Custom finishes take longer. Contact us to check current availability.
