Velgen Mustang Fitment Guide

Red Ford Mustang S650 GT on 20-inch Velgen VF5 wheels by Vibe Motorsports

Shop Talk · Mustang S550 & S650 · Velgen

A Mustang on factory wheels looks fast. The same Mustang on a staggered set of Velgens, wider out back and pushed out to the fenders, looks like it's already moving.

Velgen is one of the most popular wheel brands on the 2015+ S550 and S650 Mustang, and we've mounted more sets than we can count. This guide covers the four designs owners ask us about most (VF5, VF9, VF10 and Classic5), whether to go 19 or 20 inch, the exact fitment, finish options and the tire sizes that won't rub.

The four designs

All four are part of Velgen's Lightweight Series, made with flow-forming so the barrel is lighter and stronger than a standard cast wheel. A 20x10 VF5 weighs about 26 lbs. They share the same Mustang fitment, so choosing between them comes down to style. Tap a finish to shop it.

VF5

The best seller. Ten slim spokes grouped in pairs, with concave that gets deeper as the wheel gets wider, so the 11-inch rear really pops.

20" finishes

19" sets: Black Gunmetal Silver Bronze

VF9

A busier, more technical multi-spoke look. It really comes alive in bright finishes like silver and bronze.

20" finishes

VF10

The most aggressive of the four, with deep spokes that fill the wheel face. It's a favorite on Dark Horse builds.

Classic5 V2

A clean, timeless five-spoke that looks like it belongs on a Mustang. It's also our go-to for Shelby GT350 and GT500 owners.

20" finishes

19 vs 20 inch: which should you choose?

Both use the same proven Mustang fitment, and both work with your factory TPMS sensors.

Go 20 inch if looks come first. It's the most popular choice: the deepest concave, a lower-profile tire and the stance that fills the arches. It's what most of the cars in this article are wearing.

Go 19 inch if you drive hard or daily on rough roads. You get more sidewall for comfort and pothole protection, a wider choice of track and drag tires, and lower tire prices. It still clears the big Brembo brakes on Performance Pack and Dark Horse cars.

Tire sizes that won't rub

This is where most online orders go wrong. The wrong tire on the right wheel can rub the fender liner or the strut. These are the sizes we mount on these exact fitments, with no rubbing at factory ride height:

19-inch setup
Front275/35R19
Rear305/30R19
20-inch setup
Front275/35R20
Rear305/30R20

For a street car, our first pick is the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, followed by the Pirelli P Zero. Both put the power down well and handle wet roads with confidence. Lowered car or running a drag setup? Tell us, because ride height and rear tire choice change the recommendation.

Your factory lug nuts won't work

This one catches a lot of people. The factory Ford lug nuts don't fit Velgen's lug holes, so you'll need spline lug nuts. Every wheel and tire package from us comes with a set in black or chrome. Buying wheels only? These are the ones we install:

Why order your Velgens from us

We don't just ship boxes. We mount these wheels on Mustangs in our own shop every week, so when we recommend a size, it's because we've seen it on a car. Order a wheel and tire package and it arrives ready to bolt on: mounted, Road Force balanced, with black or chrome spline lug nuts included and your factory TPMS sensors transferred.

FAQ

Do S550 Velgen wheels fit the S650 Mustang?

Yes. The 2015–2023 S550 and 2024+ S650 share the 5x114.3 bolt pattern and 70.5mm hub, and the 10-inch +34 front / 11-inch +52 rear fitment works on both.

Do I need spacers?

No. These sizes and offsets bolt on flush with no spacers or hub rings.

Can I use my factory lug nuts?

No. Factory Ford lug nuts don't fit Velgen wheels. You'll need spline lug nuts, which we include in black or chrome with every wheel and tire package. Buying wheels only? Grab our black or chrome spline lug nuts.

Will 19-inch wheels clear the Brembo brakes?

Yes. The 19x10 / 19x11 fitment clears the Performance Pack and Dark Horse Brembo brakes.

Do these fit the Shelby GT350 or GT500?

The Shelby cars use wider, square fitments such as 20x11 / 20x11.5. Velgen makes sizes for them, but they're different from the GT setup in this guide, so contact us with your car.

Are Velgen wheels compatible with factory TPMS?

Yes, they're fully compatible with your factory TPMS sensors. Buying wheels only? Your tire shop simply moves your sensors over. Buying a wheel and tire package? We transfer them for you for free.
