Shop Talk · Vossen Forged
Most people notice the car. The people who really know cars notice the wheels first. That's the whole idea behind Vossen Forged: a wheel built in Miami, one set at a time, for one specific car — yours.
Vossen started in 2006 with cast and flow-formed wheels, and today it's one of the few brands in the world forging wheels entirely in-house. Below we break down how a Vossen Forged wheel is actually made, the real difference between monoblock and 3-piece, and which series we put on exotics, luxury cars and trucks every week at our Southern California shop.

How a Vossen Forged wheel is made
A cast wheel is poured. A forged wheel is pressed — a solid billet of aluminum squeezed under enormous pressure so the grain of the metal tightens and lines up. The result is a wheel that can be lighter and stronger at the same time. Vossen's version of that story happens almost entirely under one roof in its TÜV-verified Miami factory.
- Measure the car. Vossen collects 100+ data points from each vehicle — brake clearance, weight rating, weight distribution — to decide how much material each wheel actually needs.
- Engineer and test it digitally. Every design is modeled in CAD and run through Finite Element Analysis for cornering, radial and impact loads to SAE and TÜV standards, while pushing concavity as far as the car allows.
- Forge the raw material. It starts as aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, sourced from California and heat-treated for extra integrity.
- Rough lathe. The forging is turned inside, flipped, and turned outside — more than 70% of the original metal comes off here.
- CNC milling. 22 CNC machines cut the design, sometimes removing as little as 0.02″ per pass. The back pad is pocketed to shave weight wherever possible.
- Engrave and finish-turn. Serial number, application, size, offset and load rating are engraved on the inner lip. Final runout is held under .01″.
- Inspect, prep and finish. Every wheel is checked at every step, then hand-prepped and finished in-house — brushed, polished or powder-coated in one of 48 standard colors.
That last point matters more than it sounds. Because the whole process lives in one building, nobody downstream is guessing what the engineer intended. It's why a set of Vossens looks right from three feet away, not just thirty.
Monoblock vs 3-piece: what's the difference?
Most Vossen Forged designs come in two constructions. Same face design, very different personalities.
One piece of forged aluminum
- Face and barrel machined from a single forging
- Lightest, stiffest option — the pick for performance and daily driving
- No hardware, nothing to re-seal, cleanest look
- Sizes roughly 19″–24″ (some to 26″)
- GEN and EVO monoblocks from about $2,200 per wheel
Forged center + barrel + lip
- Forged face bolted to an inner barrel and outer lip with exposed hardware
- Lip depth, width and offset tuned per corner for an aggressive stance
- Two-tone builds: brushed lip, colored face, contrasting hardware
- Sizes roughly 18″–24″
- 3-piece designs from about $2,600 per wheel
The simple way to choose: if you want the lightest wheel and the purest look, go monoblock. If you want that deep, stepped lip and a show-car presence that stops people in parking lots, go 3-piece. Neither is the "cheap" option — they're two different statements.
Which car, which Vossen?
Vossen has over 10,000 cars photographed on its wheels, and there's a reason the series look so different from one another — each one was drawn with a type of vehicle in mind.
Exotics & supercars
Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche owners usually land on the VPS (Precision Series) with its spoke-integrated center cap and sharp 30° cuts, Series 21 for the most aggressive designs (including carbon-barrel versions), or the Novitec x Vossen collaboration made specifically for Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Luxury sedans & SUVs
G-Wagons, S-Classes, Range Rovers, Cullinans and Bentleys want presence without shouting. The GEN and EVO series nail that — timeless spoke designs in big diameters — and Urban x Vossen is made exclusively for Range Rover and Land Rover. It's exactly why our own BRABUS G63 wears EVO-3s.
Trucks, Jeeps & off-road SUVs
Forged isn't just for exotics. The GNX Series pairs ultra-deep concave with an aggressive lip for trucks, SUVs and Jeeps, while LCX and VFX are built exclusively for 6-lug and 8-lug off-road platforms in 20″–24″. If you want the Vossen look at a lower entry point, the flow-formed Hybrid Forged HFX line starts around $525 per wheel.
More than a wheel
Here's the thing about Vossen: it never really sold "wheels." It sells a look, a community and a level of finish people recognize instantly — down to the apparel, the vehicle galleries and the build photos owners trade online. When someone spots a set of Vossens, they don't ask what size they are. They ask whose car it is.
That's why we built what we think is the best Vossen Forged configurator out there. Pick your design, construction, size and finish, and see your set come together before anyone touches a CNC machine. Want inspiration first? Browse our Vossen vehicle galleries to see real cars on real wheels.
FAQ
Are Vossen Forged wheels made in the USA?
Yes. Vossen Forged wheels are designed, machined and finished in Vossen's own TÜV-verified factory in Miami, Florida, using 6061-T6 aluminum sourced in California.
Is a 3-piece wheel weaker than a monoblock?
No — both are forged and engineered to SAE and TÜV standards. A monoblock is generally lighter with fewer parts; a 3-piece adds hardware but gives you more control over lip depth, width and offset.
How much do Vossen Forged wheels cost?
Vossen Forged starts around $1,900 per wheel (GNX), with GEN and EVO monoblocks from about $2,200, 3-piece designs from about $2,600, and carbon-barrel Series 21 at the top of the range. Final price depends on size, construction and finish.
Will Vossen Forged fit my truck?
Yes. The GNX, LCX and VFX series are designed for trucks and SUVs, with LCX and VFX made exclusively for 6-lug and 8-lug platforms.
Can Vibe Motorsports install them?
Yes. We mount, balance and install at our Southern California shop and ship nationwide. Send us your vehicle and we'll confirm fitment before your set goes into production.
